What pole training taught me about debugging
When a move does not work, the instinct is to change everything: grip, timing, angle, all at once. Sometimes it works and you have no idea why, which means you cannot repeat it.
Good coaching does the opposite. Change one thing. Try again. Keep the rest identical. It is slower and it is the only way you end up knowing something.
Debugging is the same discipline in a chair. Most bad debugging sessions are just impatience with more tabs open.
